Filling a Medium GutzBusta Hay NetUpdated 3 hours ago
The Medium GutzBusta Knotless Hay Net is one of our most popular sizes, ideal for use in stables, yards, horse floats, and paddocks. It’s a great option for overnight feeding or longer feeding periods.
Capacity & Size
- Holds approximately 4–6 biscuits (flakes) of hay
- Can hold around 10–12kg / 22–26.5lbs when using half a small bale
- When hand-filled with loose hay or from a round bale, holds approx. 6kg+
If you are just filling 1 Medium hay net you can follow the same guide as filling a small hay net.
If you are filling 2 Medium nets with 1 small bale, you can fill both nets at the same time using the method below:
Step 1: With your 2 medium nets and 1 small bale of hay you can fill your medium hay nets quickly! Simply put your bale up on its end and then pull the one net down over the bale towards the middle of the bale.
Step 2: Flip the bale over 180 degrees and then repeat from the other end of the bale.
Step 3: Then lay the bale flat side down on the ground so you have both strings of the bale facing up to you.
Step 4: Open up a gap in the middle of the bale where the two hay nets meet at their drawstring edge, giving you clear access to the twine strings on your hay bale.
Step 5: Once you have opened up a good gap between the 2 nets and have access to the twine strings, carefully cut the strings. Grab and pull out the baling twine strings, flip each filled net up and pull the drawstring of one hay net.
This will then allow the bale to separate into 2. Then you just need to readjust the bales inside the nets and close up the drawstring.
Your 2 GutzBusta Medium Hay Nets are then full, quickly and easily. You can then hang your hay net up, or if you want to throw it on the ground (only for unshod and regularly trimmed horses) then simply tie a simple knot at the base of the net, then untie the existing knot at the end of the drawstring. This then leaves the drawstring loose and free and unable to get caught up in feet and legs.
