Filling a Large GutzBusta Slow Feed Hay NetUpdated 7 days ago

Our Large GutzBusta Hay Nets have a new design and are now super easy to fill. No other slow feed hay suppliers make their larges the same. These nets now open right up and you can fill from the long side of the bale, instead of trying to pull your hay net down the entire length of the bale like putting on a pillowcase.

Follow these simple steps to putting on a large slow feed hay net:

Step 1: Place your hay bale on the ground

Step 2: Open the hay net fully and position it over the bale lengthways

Step 3: Pull the net all the way down so the drawstring sits at ground level

Step 4: Flip the bale 180 degrees

Step 5: Pull up any loose netting and tighten the drawstring

Step 6: Cut and remove the bale twine (taking care not to damage the net)

That’s it! Your hay net is ready to go.

If you are leaving your bale on the ground or tied low (for regularly trimmed unshod horses only) then tie a new simple knot at the base of the net and untie the knot at the end of the drawstring. This then leaves the drawstring loose and free and unable to get caught up in feed and legs.  If you are hanging the bale up, then you may or may not wish to tie a knot at the base of the net.  You can then hang your net up

The Extra Large Hay Net is a great option thanks to its wide mouth opening, making it easy to fully open up and work with. This allows you to quickly add hay and even layer different types throughout the net, helping create a more balanced and controlled feeding setup while saving time when filling, demonstrated in the video below.
