Encapsulating a 4x4 Round Bale Hay NetUpdated 2 hours ago

At GutzBusta, all of our round bale hay net sizes are designed to fully encapsulate the bale they’re fitted to.

We strongly recommend fully encapsulating the 4x4 round bales, due to their lighter weight it makes it easier for horses to push or shift the bale. Ensuring the net is secured right around the bale and completely enclosed with the drawstring helps keep everything contained and feeding controlled.

For larger 5x4 and 6x4 round bales, full encapsulation becomes more of a personal preference. These bales are generally too heavy for horses or livestock to push over, so complete encapsulation isn’t always essential. The main consideration with leaving the base open on larger bales is that as the bale reduces in size, particularly towards the last portion, some determined horses may manage to pull the net free, which could result in losing the final section of hay. That said, not all horses will attempt this.

When using a hay ring feeder in conjunction with larger 5x4 or 6x4 bales, the need for full encapsulation is further reduced, as the feeder itself helps keep the bale secure and contained.
