Do Gutzbusta Hay Nets Fit Wall-Mounted Rectangle Hay Feeders?Updated an hour ago

Yes! Our Medium GutzBusta hay nets are a great fit for most standard wall-mounted rectangle hay feeders.

If you have a wall-mounted rectangle hay feeder in your stable and you're looking for a slow-feed net that fits properly, our Medium nets work extremely well.

Below are some images from a customer who recently tried out the medium Knotless on her existing wall-mounted rectangle frame and she said it fit perfectly.

Why the Rectangle Shape Works So Well

Most wall-mounted hay feeders have a rectangle frame. Because our Medium nets are also rectangular in shape, they sit flush against the feeder frame, keep hay contained neatly, and allow horses to graze naturally from the front of the net without fighting around a rounded or awkward shape.

The result:

  • Hay stays inside the feeder (less mess and wastage)
  • Horses can access hay comfortably and evenly
  • Slow feeding does its job throughout the full feeding session

Which GutzBusta Hay Net Fits?

Our Medium hay nets are the recommended size for standard wall-mounted rectangle feeders.

They are available in both:

  • Knotless: Soft feel, ideal for older horses or horses that spend a lot of time at the feeder
  • Knotted: Traditional knotted high-strength design, great for tougher conditions

We have found that some horses do better with knotless netting, while others are better suited to knotted netting. If one style is not lasting as well as expected, we recommend trying the alternative, as this often results in improved durability and a more satisfactory outcome.

Both options come in multiple mesh sizes so you can control the rate of feeding based on your horse's needs.

How to Check if Your Feeder is the Right Size

To confirm your feeder will work with our Medium nets, run a string line around the inside perimeter of your feeder frame (the opening where the hay sits).

Then compare that measurement to our net dimensions:

Net StyleFlat Width (each side)String Line / Mouth Size
Knotted Medium35"~70" (35" x 2)
Knotless Medium38"~76" (38" x 2)

If your feeder's perimeter measurement falls within these ranges, our Medium nets will fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will any Gutzbusta net fit a wall-mounted feeder, or only the Medium?

We recommend the Medium as the best fit for most standard wall-mounted rectangle feeders. If you're unsure, use the string line measurement method above and contact us, we're happy to help.

Does it matter if I choose knotless or knotted for a wall feeder?

Both work well, the knotless option is a softer material which many horses prefer, especially if they're spending long periods feeding. The knotted option is a more coarser material and is a great outdoor paddock use and quicker drying.

What mesh size should I choose?

Mesh size controls how quickly your horse can pull hay through. Smaller mesh = slower feeding. We recommend starting with a mesh size based on your horse's current feeding speed or what your goals are for the hay net, however there are many other factors which go into considering the right mesh size. If in doubt, get in touch and we'll guide you or check out our article "Which hole size do I choose?" HERE.
